Intellectual Property and Innovation Unit

Believing in activating the role of Buraydah Private Colleges to develop innovation and refine talents, the Intellectual Property and Innovation Unit was established in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to adopt the college’s employees, including students, staff, and innovative faculty members, encouraging, and motivating them to develop their ideas and turn them into reality, through the unit’s support for faculty members and students regarding promising research projects and ideas. The colleges seek to pay attention to the talented faculty members and students by providing the appropriate atmosphere for them to facilitate the obstacles they face, and to harness possible efforts to help them develop their innovative talents and achieve their aspirations at the local level, and this reflects the extent of the colleges’ interest in activating their role towards community service.

Spreading a culture of innovation and leadership and encouraging talented students in colleges by providing a stimulating environment and the necessary resources to support new and innovative ideas.

Objectives

  1. Work to promote respect for intellectual property rights within colleges.
  2. Enhancing talents and spreading a culture of innovation and invention among the college’s staff.
  3. Encouraging and motivating college employees to present their ideas and innovations and turn them into innovations of economic value with the aim of serving the community.
  4. Strengthening the relationship between colleges, investors, and innovators by strengthening the principle of community partnership with the private sector.
  5. Supporting innovative research projects and contributing to their marketing by contributing to funding prototypes for nascent and emerging innovations.
  6. Providing job opportunities for innovators by marketing their innovations.
  7. Work within the system of innovation, leadership, and excellence in the service of talented innovators.
  8. Work efficiently in one multidisciplinary team.
  9. Facilitate and support the steps for patent registration locally and internationally.
  10. Supporting the colleges' policy in investing in the knowledge industry and technology transfer and localization

 

Unit tasks

  1. Intellectual property rights protection.
  2. Providing courses and workshops periodically for college employees to introduce and protect intellectual property rights.
  3. Spreading a culture of innovation and creating a stimulating environment for pioneering and innovative ideas.
  4. Providing information sources and databases for talented and innovative people.
  5. Assisting in preserving the rights of the innovator and documenting and registering the patent through the Intellectual Property and Innovation Unit.
  6. Supporting the participation of innovations and pioneering projects in exhibitions and events locally and internationally.
  7. Stimulating the creative, talented, and inventors in colleges.

Intellectual Property and Innovation Unit Services

  1. Suggest necessary policies for intellectual property rights.
  2. Defending the intellectual property rights of colleges by supervising the colleges' interests related to intellectual property rights and taking the necessary legal measures to protect them.
  3. Receiving and examining innovative projects and assisting in the registration of patents.
  4. Provide the necessary resources to support promising innovative projects.
  5. Request for advice on intellectual property rights (patents/copyrights).
  6. Request for an innovation consultation (record your idea/graduation project/incubation request).
  7. Develop innovations (support and incubate).
  8. Training courses and workshops.
  9. Organizing events for talent and innovation in colleges.
  10. Linking with the supporting and funding agencies.

The implementation of the center’s research plans is supervised by a council called the “Scientific Research Center Council,” which is the legislative body for studying the regulations, rules, and procedures regulating the scientific research movement.
